Cool Pix 990

"CoolPix"?! dumb name I always thought and way below Nikon's snobby image, but it's a great camera. Unfortunately discontinued, though it always ranked on the top of the list in the $500-$1000 range while it was in production. It also was at the top of that price range!

Nikon has moved to the SLR now in the same price range.

I'll hold out until I really feel the 3.2 megapixels is just not enough for me. For now, I can manage.

Question: Should I delete pictures or just re-format the memory card?

Deleting pictures takes really long. If you select "Delete All" it takes a huge amount of time. I found that reformatting the card is quickest. It takes less than a second I'd say. Not sure if there might be any reason one would want to delete all pictures rather than doing the reformat. Why the huge time difference I have no idea. Of course if you want to delete just one picture that is a different story.

This camera displays a picture right after you take it and gives you a couple of seconds to decide to keep it or not and immediately delete it if you don't want it.
