This Wiki was created on Friday, January 28, 2005.

My original goal was to find some way to collaborate with people at Jogakuin on topics especially related to bureaucratic issues. There is always some little detail about filling out form x, y or z that I either forgot or could not intuit. And although the staff usually jumps to their feet to assist us when we need help, I would rather try to find some time to do some of my research than to waste my time running back and forth to the office to have a question answered or pick up a piece of paper that I didn't know was needed. So why not collaborate on some manual for office procedures?

I tried Php Wiki? but was unsuccessful in getting it to work. After having some trouble I went back to the website that recommended it to find that there was little activity and it seemed like users had lots of problems, so I abandoned it. I liked the idea of having a My Sql? undergirding, for some unknown reason. Well, it sounds good and I had had some success installing Wordpress, free blogging software that runs on My Sql?. Now that was easy to do the first time. The second time, I had some problems, but finally got it working.

In the case of Php Wiki?, I found the My Sql? part an obstacle I couldn't get over. Pm Wiki? Well, didn't like the idea that one person was running this and his initials grace the name (Pm=Paul Michaud) of the wiki. But It had good recommendations and was up and running fairly quickly (see my How to get started with anything on computers.
