1. get a system for students reading each other's work
2. assign various papers that seem interesting from the beginning of class, have them take notes and write summaries
3. make a folder or notebook for each student recording every contact I have for them for each week of class
4. use them grading sheet based on the number of contacts made and what kind
5. warn them not to bring their phone into my office unless they announce that it is very important before they enter
6. tell them I give them corrections, they need to bring the copy of my corrections with the original
