today was a springy ride home. Slightly heavy backpack, low wind, light dying from the start. Late, therfore not so much traffic. so, in spite of the drawbacks, I managed a fairly good time.

When I crossed over to the Ogawa some mami chari guy passed me. It was so funny riding behind him. Me on my $2000 bike and this guy on a bike of 1/10th the value. Pumping hard with his little generator blazing away with an intense beam. I followed him easily, with smells of a waxy cologne and his leather jacket. Late for a date? I don't know but he was pedaling in earnest. It was just too dark to ride safely at that speed down along the Oogawa. So enjoyed drafting off of this guy with his darkness piercing light.

I stayed on the main roads rather than taking the periferals because these were the brightest and since traffic was light, felt fairly safe. There were also very few people on the sidewalks so it was much more free than usual.
