20050217Stopped at toccate on the way back in order to watch "Fog of War". The ride back was interesting. Getting to umeda was fairly easy, but once in in the Umeda district, how to get to any particular place? Quite an effort to make your way through blade runner territory. Returning home was a bit tricky but basically I followed 423 to the river. A few blocks before the river, the last ramp goes up to the overhead 423 and it looks like cars only. Pretty narrow and not room for bicycles. What a horrible oversight, not putting a pedestrian way over the river here. The closest pedestrian bridges are about 1 kilometer either way. Doable on a bicycle but not too good for the pedestrians. After reaching the river I turned left down the river towards Kobe, under and on top of the first pedestrian/bike bridge and into Juuso and back home. It took some time, but not much more than usual. The worst part was getting out of the city. There are lots of lights and traffic down there below 423. And it was kind of a cold night. |
